How We Started
Viking in the Wild was founded by Danish filmmaker Morten 'Spacey' Jensen who has always had the desire to ask questions about the reality around him, drawn to explore wild ecology and ancient mythology alike. On his many travels Morten came across like-minded people which spawned the passion projects which form the backbone of Viking in the Wild to this day. We began in the haunted castles of Denmark, diving unbiased into their myth and legends while building a bridge into the natural world of science and observation, unafraid to tackle the philosophical subtext that comes with such a coupling. This dichotomy has since become our defining characteristic and we have since expanded our lens to forests, wetlands, oceans and mountains across the globe, never afraid to dive beneath the surface of the observable universe and shining a light on what might lie underneath.
Still centered around Morten, our team continues to expand with each project, as more like-minded filmmakers cross our path. We keep our project load low because we believe the best documentaries are built on genuine curiosity — on spending long enough in a place and on a subject that you begin to understand its rhythms, its stories, its silences, what might lie beyond.
Each film we make is a passion project first and a broadcast product second. That order of priority hopefully shows in the work.
